My thougths and impression about Growth Mindset

First, I would like to say thank  you for such an inspiring topic. I have never heard about Carol Dweck, but her study is very inspiring and very close to what I think about kids education and the way how we should be rising our kids. I think using Growth Mindset strategy gives our children  a lot more space to develop in the area they are keen to improve.

As a mother of a 19 years old son I have to say that Growth Mindset strategy helped my son to be a very successful athlete and then when It was over with professional sport , it helped him to accept the situation and transfer his desire for Challenge on his education. I always taught him that he should be looking for challenges and this is the only way to improve in anything. Now he is simply not satisfied if there are no challenges and always looking for opportunities to find them.

If I say a couple of words about myself and about the course ,  I understand that it takes time and I give it to. myself without comparing with how somebody else is progressing, the only person I want to be compared is myself. I know that if I do not understand something I need to try it again and again and It works, so the biggest challenge for me in this module is creating a 3D game and learning a new software I am not familiar with, and the only way to feel about it is being exited.

Learning more about Growth Mindset should definitely be part of the module as it gives some tips and reminds you again and again that you can do it , just need to make an effort and believe in the power of not giving up.

My personal goals for this semester is to become more confident in all the modules as they are edition to each other so I am going to try my best.

  1. Hey Svetlana ! I read your blog and I have to say it is quite a nice blog. I love how you talk about teaching your 19-year-old son the Growth Mindset strategy and helping him succeed to become a successful athlete in whatever professional sports he is doing. I love how you were talking about your son not being satisfied if there are no challenges. Thats how everyone should be we should always strive for more :)

  2. Hello Svetlana. I honestly want to say I fond the story about your son so inspirational. And I admire you for raising him with a growth mindset. There should be more people like you in the world. I am even learning about having a growth mindset at 20/21 (I just turned 21 today). I especially agree with you on focusing on how you are doing rather than everyone else. It's not a race, everyone is at there own level. It's like a game, everyone has the capability to progress
