Project " Alpha" week 09

Image
my image This  week,  I figured out how to use Unity asset library and how to create a scene that I wou ld like to have as a platform for my game. So now my player is moving side to  side,  I have quite realistic  forest with trees, I also know what I am doing next week. For next week I would like to place a proper player  not just a  cylinder  that is  moving,  then I will organise falling objects from the  sky, I know what code to  apply,  so it is  going  to be just coding next  week,  so I hope my game will be working next week and all I  must  d o is to clean code and double check whether everything works.   T hat is my plan for next week.

Unity tutorial week 9

Image
My image my image Unit 4 Unity tutorial was all about hitting enemies and making them disappear when hit during the  game.  The tutorial was  quite straight forward and easy to  follow,  and it was more challenging in the second part when I had to apply  the knowledge gained in the tutorial to the soccer challenge. I have to say it was not easy at all, although it is the same  methods  I had to use as it was I the tutorial.     I suppose in the tutorial you are repeating the code and only pay attention to the code when something. Goes wrong and you  must  fix  the   problem   , but when it comes to  apply  this code yourself you really  must   think about  which way to do it and how it is going to  work .     I really liked the soccer challenge as there was an opportunity to apply your own code and test  yourself to see  whether you are somewhere near to make yo ur own game. As I keep working on my project  these kinds of challenges  help me a lot and make me sta rt thinking C#. I fo

Week 9 , Reading and Writing

Image
Public Domain This week I would like to talk about reading experience overall. At first it was quite challenging as I  mentioned  it befor e that the  information,  I was reading was  new  for me as I  do not  play games and to be  honest,  I am not planning to start doing it . Although I don’t play games and I am not planning to develop games as I think it would be strange to be a game developer who  does not play games, the mechanism of how the game designing works is very interesting to follow and I think  it could be useful to know all this mechanism to master the  strategy  in Design in general, so I really enjoyed  MDA part of reading and that week reading gave me lots of knowledge about all the aspects of Game Design and gave  me more understanding and I am sure it will help me a lot in my project as at the very beginning I thought that  I would never understand how to do it, but now at week 9 I don’t  think  it anymore , my head is clear and it is not only because of Unity tu

Review Week Comments and Feedback

Image
Public Domain So far feedback and commenting blogs were quite fun and useful as I can see that lots of people are really enjoying Unity tutorial  and game design. For me  personally  it is the whole new world and I try to read other people’s  blogs carefully as I can find some useful tips for myself that I might have missed, for example when I was leaving comments  on posts about GGD I realised that many people were  using  Dun Doc  for creating their documents and I  have to say it looks really well, but I have not used it for mine so I took it on board and will use it next time as I understand it can be a use ful platform not only for GGD but for other designing ideas as well.    Also,  by checking other people’s blogs I came across to some posts with “Tech Task ,”  which is an optional to do in the mod ule, but I got curious and tried to do one of them for my blog, I implemented the Google Map into my blog  and it is quite straight forward when you know 😊     And  this kind of kn

My screenshot  This week I applied some code to my  Player Controller  and now my player is moving  left, right,  and this  definitely  I need for  my Game. I also put some boundaries on my  player,  so it hits an invisible wall that is what preventing it from falling off the ed ge off my  scenery . I also created an egg and now my plan is to think what to apply to  it,  I  need  a random shot for an egg, but so  far,  I am  meeting  my goals and hope to finish some code for my Prototype during the Lab as well.

Google Map for my blog

my image This week I decided to try one of the Tech Task and wanted to embedded the Google Map of the place where I live into my Blog. I think It is quite useful to know how to do it.

Game Fun

Image
Public Domain This week reading was very useful and when I started reading about Game Fun and how actually it works and the link between Game Fun and challenges in the Game I realised how it works, better to say I always knew it but never thought of it in terms of game developing. It is true that Game Fun continues until there are challenges in the Game. \

Unity tutorial Week 8

Image
My screenshot from Unit 4 Unity tutorial This week Unity  tutorial  was something different and I really  enjoyed  it, but what I enjoyed more is the fact th at I start completing tutorials a lot quicker and there are  few  mistakes. I still have some question that  I am going to ask during the Lab time, as my code  does not   indicate  any  errors,   although  my Power Indicate does not behave the same way as in the  Tutorials.  When I applied the  code,  it did not give me a red  warning,  but a grey  warning,  then it  disappeared  when I  unchecked  the Power Indicator, but it does not do what it should be  doing,  or  I  just  cannot  play it  correctly,  so I am hoping to sort it during the Lab time.  Also,  when my player and my enemy collide  the enemy does not go in a different direction as it should be, but all the rest tutorials were fine. I can see it become s heavier on the code and more  complicated,  but as you are getting

My first Prototype try.

The image of my Prototype This week I started working on my Prototype and the video provided on Moodle about assets did help, although as my Game is  catching,  I need to figure out who to make my player holding a basket so now  I need to make  research  how to do it, but I applied the code from Unit 2 so going to work on it and bring it to the Lab session  for more feedback.
